March
A wet start to the month and beautiful sunsets are what I remember of March. The kids settled into their school routines whilst I organised our holiday for the end of the Month. We don't go away very often, but tied a trip to Heron Island on to the end of my workshop and artist talk at Gladstone Regional gallery. We are so glad that we did.

We can’t do this, but Alby wants to learn how, so we have been watching videos on YouTube and practicing. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Some mornings it can be hard to get up for early morning walks. I sometimes get a gentle reminder.

When the animals are on the move_ 62 of 365.jpg
Storms in the area today, we even got a government order to collect our children from school because of the unpredictable forecast. That has never happened before. We have had a lot of rain but it is over for now. The weather warning is in place for the next 48 hours, so we may have more to come….

Watching the Storm 63 of 365.jpg
I fondly remember watching storms on the veranda with my family as a child and those warm memories prompted me to drag my children from their respective caves yesterday afternoon. We ooh’d and ahhh’d at the flashes of lightning and rumbling skies and I hope that they now have another of their own fond memories.

The Mask mandate has ended-movie still_64 of 365.JPG
Anyone else feeling a little more vulnerable like me? I know masks are an absolute pain, but it seems wild to think that they were essential yesterday, but not today.

On the way back from the beach last night I saw my girls glowing.

Another beautiful stormy evening last night.

Dramatic Skies 67 of 365.jpg
Gorgeous rumbling cloud formations that produced very little rain, but stunning sunsets.

Morning Walk 68 of 365.jpg
I am extremely appreciative of the life I have and I try to acknowledge it every day.

Teenager_70 of 365.JPG
I got a call to let me know my daughter had left her sports bag at home. I got in my car and raced it to the aquatic centre. Her school bus and I arrived at the same time. She said “Hi”, took the bag and turned and walked back to her group. No thank you, no acknowledgement of my amazing timing or what a wonderful mother I am. No hug. No kiss. No loud declaration of love. Teenager. I’m not sad about it, teens are self absorbed and she was already having a tough day, so I didn’t call her out like I normally would have. It actually made me smile and remember what a little shit I was as a teen before I grew up and became so awesome.

Arriving home from my walk in the last light of the day, I came across this beautiful scene.

I love walking with Penny at dusk, the current light show each evening is making it even better.

Early Morning Hugs 76 of 365.jpg
My son comes in for a cuddle every morning at 6. It is one of the highlights of my day. I know to cherish them while they last. And yes, our dog pushes my husband to the very edge of the bed every night.

A catch up with the school mums_77 of 365.jpg
COVID has definitely put a dampener on all of my friendships. It was so nice to catch up again, albeit by phone.

The peace that water affords_79 of 365.JPG
After working hard in the garden I often go for a swim to cool down. I always ask the kids if they want to join me. Sometimes they say yes and we splash and fool around. Sometimes they say no and I swim on my own and soak in the quiet and tranquility.

A Penny in heaven_83 of 365.JPG
I took Penny to meet her new sitter and see if she was comfortable in a new space. There were two dogs that she ignored, but she was quite enamoured by all the mice, rats and Guinea pigs. When she does go to stay,I think the only problem we will have is getting her to come home. The rats, by the way, were not floating in the sky, but all resting in tiny bespoke hammocks safely in the cages and behind a baby gate. All I could see were little noses twitching away.
