September
September flew by, punctuated by Father's Day and a visit from my Mum and Dad. The weather started to warm and the wildlife became more active. It also marked the 3/4 point of this project.

Wattle Day_Still_ Day 244 of 365.JPG
“Wattle Day”. Day 244 of 365. Wattle day marks the first day of Spring. There isn’t a lot around where I live, but I grew up surrounded by it. Whenever I see it or smell it I can’t help but smile and inhale deeply.
Pupil Free Day_Day 245 of 265.JPG

He Doesnt ask for Much_Day 246 of 365.jpg
Day 246 of 365. Tomorrow is Father’s Day here. The kids have made cards and bought items from the stall at school, and as requested, I have made Cinnamon Rolls. We are just about to head to the beach for sunset tonight instead of tomorrow, as is our usual Fathers Day tradition, because tomorrow night the tide will be too high to run the dog on the flats.
Fathers Day_Day 247 of 365.jpg
Day 247 of 365. A quiet but enjoyable day. I drew this image from a reference photo. As I was taking this photo I was thinking about how much I wanted to draw this moment. Then I wondered if I am drawing memories or creating memories in order to draw them. This thought disturbed me so I have pushed it away to ponder another day. Regardless, it was a lovely moment with Phil and his 3 children.
Climate Control_Day 248 of 365.jpg
After the chaos of everyone home over the weekend ,Penny always sleeps longer on Mondays.
First Rhino ceros beetle relocation of the season_Day 249 of 365.jpg
This not so little guy was sitting right in the middle of a road. I put my fingers up to him and he climbed on board. I put him on a nearby Poinciana tree, apparently one of their favourites ,and will hope for the best
Waiting to keep the peace_Day 250 of 365.JPG
On a beautiful walk at the end of a long chaotic day, we give space so that Judith and her little dogs can continue their peaceful travels.
R U OK_Day 251 of 365.jpg
R U OK? Is a harm prevention charity and R U OK Day,”encourages people to invest more time in their personal relationships and building the capacity of informal support networks – friends, family and colleagues - to be alert to those around them, have a conversation if they identify signs of distress or difficulty and connect someone to appropriate support, long before they're in crisis”. - (taken from the RU OK? Website). Today as I went on my morning walk with Penny, I chatted with my neighbours, shared reciprocal waves with passing cars, chatted with fellow dog walkers, waved to the old guys mowing their lawns and discovered that one of my favourite migratory birds, the bee catcher, was back in the area for spring. I am fully aware of just how my own mental health benefits from my time walking and these gentle social interactions, but today, for the first time, began to think how my little waves and small talk might make other peoples day brighter too. R U OK Day is about checking in on the people around you and trusting your gut if you are worried. Start the conversations and show people that you care.
Plumed Whistling Ducks_Day 252 of 365.jpg
When I see these ducks resting on my daily walk the way that their feathers sit makes them look like they are on fire, and it always makes me smile.
Light Study_Day253 of 365.jpg
On my early evening walks I love the way the streetlights bathe everything in warm orange tones.
Did anyone see the moon last night_Day 254 of 365.jpg
“ Did anyone see the moon last night ?” Day 254 of 365.
Spot Check_Day 255 of 365.JPG
As we awaited the result of fine needle aspirates of some small skin lumps, Penny pondered whether she might be able to slither under the door. She got the all clear and we were on our way. She has slept most of the day away, exhausted by the unwanted adventure.
An upcoming visit_Day 256 of 365.JPG
My Mum and Dad are about to visit. It’s been almost two years since they have made it up here. Today I washed up new towels and linens. Needless to say I am getting quite excited.
No good deed goes unpunished_Day 257 of 365.JPG
Today I helped a little old lady whose dog had escaped. Once I had lured it out with treats, reattached it’s lead and walked it back to its house because the owner had an injured arm, it bit Penny on the butt and left some bleeding teeth marks. The poor woman was mortified. Her life already seemed difficult enough, so I let it go. Penny was very brave and is being pampered.
Sick again_Day258 of 365.jpg
Not Covid, just another virus and an early mark from school. Poor boy has spent way too long being sick this year. Here’s hoping that the warming weather will be the end of it.
Matinf Season_Day 259 of 365.jpg
The Kookaburras are back, hoping that we will supplement their food as they get ready for a new nestling
Weaving Workshop_Day 260 of 365.JPG
Today I attended a weaving workshop with my Mother and Daughter @herveybayregionalgallery that was run by the fabulous Hervey Bay Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artist group. Three generations of women weaving knowledge, relationships and experiences together. It was wonderful.
Late night post excursion school pickup_Day 261 of 365.JPG
Day 261 of 365. Friday night I picked Olive up from school at 7:45 after an overnight excursion to Brisbane. Eager to start our weekends, the pick up process was the fastest and most efficient that I have ever seen.

Sewing Lesson_Day263 of 365.JPG
The lesson had just started when the sewing machine stopped working. Next visit we will try again.
Cuttings for Mum and Hamish_Day264 of 365.JPG
Mum goes home tomorrow. Today we made her cuttings of some of my favourite Hoyas. There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing plants with people who really appreciate them.
Even the clouds are sad_Day 265 of 365.jpg
Mum and Dad started the long drive south to their home in Victoria early this morning. They drove out smiling as they faced Alby’s traditional barrage of nerf bullets.
Upon reflection_Day 266 of 365.JPG
As I walked Penny we came upon a Noisy Minerbird in a tiny nest hanging low over a footpath and I wondered if she was regretting her recent choices. I am nervous for her.

The drive to Kin Kin_Day 268 of 365.jpg
I was almost hypnotised by the optical illusions that the tree farms created on my drive today. I am aware that they are considered a blight, but there is no denying that visually they are quite striking.
